Aurora Packing Company is seeking an experienced Diesel Maintenance Technician (6:00 AM – 4:00 PM with 4 hours every other Saturday).

This position is responsible for the general diesel maintenance tasks Class 8 trucks and trailers in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures. Must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform moderate to complex repairs on machinery and refrigerant evacuation and recharge. Must have a thorough knowledge of functions and operations of all processes and associated support equipment.

What You Will Do:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

• Routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire rotation, oil changes, brake pad replacement, etc.
• Full automotive troubleshooting and testing
• Self-motivation and willingness to learn new skills are a must.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, engine tune-ups, and brake inspections
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on agricultural equipment, including tractors, combines, planters, and bailers
• Ensure all equipment is tested post-repair to guarantee operational safety
• Work with an airbrake system and hydraulic components to ensure proper function.
• Coordinate the ordering, purchasing, stocking, and inventory of vehicle and equipment parts
• Ensure record keeping is complete, such as repair and maintenance records, expenses, etc.
• Ensure the appropriate and efficient use of the annual assigned budget
• Clearing snow and Ice from parking lots and roadways

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to cold and warm temperatures, fumes or airborne particles, sharp knives, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of automotive technician-relevant experience and the following credentials/skills:

• High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or an equivalent number of years of education and automotive technician experience
• Steady work history
• Must be mechanically inclined with a strong behavior-based safety attitude.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime, including weekends, when scheduled.
• Must be punctual and reliable.
• Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Familiarity with air brake systems, hydraulic, welding, and fabrication techniques is a plus
• Comfortable using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and computer applications
• Refrigeration and HVAC experience
• Knowledge and experience in repairing refrigeration units, refrigerant evacuation, and recharge
