The York School Department is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of our facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, sanitary, and pleasant environment for our employees and visitors. This is a vital role that contributes directly to the positive image and smooth operation of our organization. Responsibilities: Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping surfaces in offices, hallways, restrooms, and other designated areas. Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal. Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper). Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors. Maintain floors through waxing, buffing, and other appropriate methods. Set up and break down meeting rooms or event spaces as needed. Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs or reporting maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel. Ensure that cleaning supplies are properly stored and organized. Follow established safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals appropriately. Assist with snow removal or other outdoor maintenance tasks as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
