PURPOSE

Under the administration of the Senior Director of Finance, the Grants Manager will contribute to the support of breast and colorectal cancer research and the management of clinical trials. In addition to coordinating, supporting and managing the administrative and financial pre- and post-award administration activities for the NSABP Foundation, a significant component of this position performs these services for the NRG Oncology Foundation (NSABP, RTOG, GOG).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

60% OF TIME

Pre- and Post-Award Administration

  • Work in collaboration with NRG's Executive Director, Senior Directors, staff, and partners to ensure accurate, timely, efficient and transparent processes for the grant life cycle from proposal to closure.
  • Communicate opportunities for new and recurring grants, reporting requirements, timelines and deadlines, financial updates and all other requirements of the funder.
  • Coordinate application requirements, prepare multi-entity, multi-year budgets and corresponding justifications. Responsible for preparation of progress and financial reports as necessary to analyze and forecast expenditures. Prepare carryover requests and report unexpended balances as required.
  • Coordinate and review grant applications and budgets prepared by NRG partners prior to submission.
  • Oversee the monitoring, maintenance and reconciliation of awards received.
  • Contribute to the annual audit process.

20% OF TIME

Financial Administration

  • Prepare, analyze, & present financial reports in an accurate & timely manner; clearly communicate monthly & annual projections to senior management.
  • Develop grant budgets for submission to funding agencies.
  • Assist in the development of the NRG annual fiscal year budget in conjunction with the Sr. Director of Finance and CFO.
  • Review and approve expenditures for subawards, vendor services, materials, and travel.
  • Monitor expenses to ensure they are being paid according to contracts and subawards; resolve issues; recommend corrective action when necessary.

5% OF TIME

Compliance

  • Interpret regulations and guidelines of multiple programs within the federal, state and private funding sources.
  • Understand 2 CRF 200 Uniform Guidance to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Identify compliance-related issues and offer suggestions for handling and notify supervisor.
  • Perform on-going sub-recipient monitoring with a focus on risk mitigation.
  • Responsible for recognizing and/or interpreting complex agreement language and manage as needed (e.g. FAR clauses, DFAR clauses, PA DOH terms, etc.).
  • Maintain NRG and NSABP information on external systems (e.g. SAM.gov, Federal Audit Clearinghouse, FFATA, FSRS, ORI).

5% OF TIME

Staff Administration

  • Build and maintain an effective team by hiring and providing opportunities for professional growth through training and guidance to staff .
  • Direct and prioritize the activities of the department, successfully implement organizational policy, and ensure compliance with industry regulations .
  • If applicable, ensure staff obtains licensure and/or certification by meeting continuing education requirements.

This position is located in Pittsburgh, PA. We offer a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) and 2 days remote work (Wednesday and Friday) per week.
