Senior Instructional Designer & Project Lead (Remote)

A dynamic learning and communications agency serving clients in the life sciences industry is looking for an experienced Senior Instructional Designer & Project Lead to join its remote team. This role is ideal for someone who brings both creative and strategic thinking to the table and has a strong background in designing and managing a wide range of learning solutions—from live workshops to eLearning modules.

As a senior member of the instructional design team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the learning experience for healthcare and biotech professionals. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to build impactful, engaging training content that aligns with business goals and industry standards.

What You’ll Do

• Design and lead the development of diverse training materials—facilitated workshops, eLearning, job aids, podcasts, videos, and more
• Partner with clients to understand their needs and translate those into instructionally sound solutions
• Take the lead on content strategy and curriculum design for new and ongoing projects
• Write outlines, learning objectives, and design documentation that guide the full development process
• Supervise and mentor fellow instructional designers, providing clear direction and constructive feedback
• Ensure consistent quality across deliverables by reviewing and editing content for tone, clarity, brand alignment, and instructional value
• Conduct audience and training needs analyses, recommend the right formats, and help pitch ideas to clients
• Collaborate closely with project managers, subject matter experts, writers, and leadership from concept through delivery
• Support clients with implementation, including train-the-trainer sessions and post-launch consultation
• Stay current with trends in instructional technology and suggest innovative approaches to improve engagement
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions to evolve the team’s creative approaches and offerings

What You Bring

• At least 3 years of experience designing training in a fast-paced, client-facing environment—preferably in an agency setting
• Solid background in life sciences, biotech, or pharma
• Deep understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design models (especially ADDIE)
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects and stakeholders
• Confidence working independently in a remote setting, while staying closely connected with team members
• Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with tools like MS Teams, Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
• A good eye for visual design and a grasp of multimedia design principles

Preferred Extras

• Advanced degree in instructional design, adult learning, or related field
• Experience with project management platforms
• Proficiency in Articulate (Storyline, Rise)
• Background in training delivery or facilitation
